AWARDS

A wine rated 93/100 by our Committee!

— Out of stock —

Wine:

With its generous blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the 2020 Red Saint-Emilion Grand Cru reveals itself with charm and depth, offering a mix of dark fruit, a hint of smoky oak, and subtle graphite accents. The palate is dense and fleshy, yet maintains a welcome freshness; a touch of oak and licorice carries the finish with impressive persistence. Although still very young, this wine already showcases a remarkable balance. It has the potential to age gracefully for more than ten years. In this context, the Selection Committee has awarded it a score of 93/100.

Vinification:

Hand harvested. 100% destemmed, fermented in temperature-controlled concrete vats. Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, 20% new wood and 80% barrels of one or more wines.

Color:

Bright, almost black red, with a few vermilion shades.

Nose:

Concentrated, opening with intense black fruit aromas and a subtle touch of graphite, its gentle freshness is immediately seductive.

Palate:

Dense and rich, with a welcome freshness and great elegance. Delicate woody and licorice notes on the finish. A wine that's still very young and already well-balanced. Remarkable!

Temperature:

Serve between 14 and 16°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Rib of beef with shallot confit, herb-crusted shoulder of lamb, roast duckling, braised sweetbreads, aged Saint-Nectaire fermier cheese.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2035.

Château Mondorion is shaking up the established hierarchy of the Saint-Emilion Grands Crus, benefiting from the expertise of the Cruse family, who took over the estate in 2013. Now under the stewardship of Thibault Cruse, this once under-the-radar estate has become a must-know destination for discerning wine lovers.

The sandy and gravelly terroir lends itself to producing an elegant wine, elevated by meticulous aging processes and constant care at every stage.
