Our committee's review
Julien Pilon has firmly established himself as a leading name in the Rhône Valley, earning one star in the French wine guide RVF and a dedicated following among serious wine lovers.
Having honed his craft alongside legends like Yves Cuilleron, Pierre Gaillard, Pierre-Jean Villa, and Mas Amiel, he brings a precise, terroir-driven approach to winemaking, capturing every subtle nuance of the land.
His wines, sourced from some of the Northern Rhône Valley’s finest appellations, are prized for their freshness and purity—crystal-clear whites and equally refined reds. The only catch? With soaring demand and limited production, getting your hands on a bottle is no easy feat.
Don't miss this trio from one of our favorite winemakers, crafted in the outstanding 2023 vintage.
True to the Northern Rhône Valley style, the 2023 White Crozes-Hermitage On the Rhône Again showcases a beautifully expressive nose with honeyed and floral aromas, a signature of the Marsanne that leads the blend. On the palate, it’s fresh and lively, with well-ripened fruit and a refined bitterness that adds length and finesse. This is an elegant, well-crafted wine, ready to enjoy over the next 3 to 5 years, offering pure fruit, delicate floral notes, and perfectly restrained aging. Rated 92/100 by our Selection Committee.
The 2023 Red Saint-Joseph Rue des Poissonniers, Paris XVIIIe once again exceeds the expectations of its appellation! A Selection Committee Favorite, rated 94/100, it offers a beautifully ripe nose, layered with black fruit, spice, and that signature smoky, bacon-like note found in top-tier Syrah. The palate is still youthful, brimming with juicy fruit and firm, structured tannins. Yet, its balance is impeccable, with vibrant freshness and outstanding aging potential. A wine to watch—and to savor for years to come.
A Selection Committee Favorite, rated 96/100, the 2023 Red Côte Rôtie La Porchette captures the very essence of great Syrah—ripe, juicy, and beautifully structured. The nose is pure, intense, and fresh, unfolding with layers of smoky bacon, black fruit, and wild blackberry. The palate is remarkably smooth, almost like a silky coulis, with polished tannins that promise excellent aging potential. Thoughtfully aged in oak, the balance is impeccable, enhancing depth without overpowering the wine’s vibrant character. A truly outstanding bottle—one that belongs in every serious collector’s cellar. This winemaker never ceases to impress!
