Wine:

The 2019 red Saint-Estèphe de Cos Labory is clearly a model of smooth and confident Bordeaux. The nose is very pure, reflecting a beautiful maturity of the harvest, yet remains fresh, with notes of stone fruits, plum, and spices. The palate is harmonious, carried by very fine tannins with integrated oak, which is present but restrained, ending with a hint of licorice. This wine is still in an evolving phase and requires patience, but what a delight! Rated 92+/100 by the Committee.

Vinification:

Harvested by hand. Average vine age 15 years. Vinification in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats. Aged in 2-year-old oak barrels. Second wine of the Château.

Color:

Dark red, almost black, with carmine highlights, brilliant.

Nose:

Pure and fresh, we discover the warmth of a ripe harvest, with aromas of stone fruits, red plums and spices.

Palate:

Harmonious and precise, this cuvée offers fruity flavors without exuberance, and a restrained woodiness that subtly blends with this fine juice. The liquorice notes on the finish are beautifully balanced.

Temperature:

Serve between 14 and 16°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Rack of lamb, simmered meats, beef cheek confit with spices.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2028

Benefiting from a terroir of deep gravel similar to that of its illustrious neighbor, Cos d'Estournel, Cos Labory is an understated Grand Cru Classé. It may not be as well-known as its counterparts, but it certainly delivers wines of equal allure and quality. In recent vintages, it has even crafted standout successes that rival the leading names of the appellation.

This family-owned estate, championed by Bernard Audoy, deserves close attention as it undoubtedly represents the best value for money among the Grand Cru Classés of Bordeaux.
